I’m a foodie. I love good-looking, great tasting food. You know the saying....”you eat with your eyes first”. The way food looks is really important to me and experimenting with food trends is all part of the fun of baking & cooking. But I’m also a firm believer in making sure that the flavour lives up to the flair!
Summer Food Festivals are now in full swing, shows like these and others such as, Cake International and The Cake and Bake Show are also a great source of inspiration for recipes, tips and techniques. I’ve been known to eat my way around a fair few farmers’ markets and food events too. One of my areas of my work have included food demos with a cake decorating Master class on stage which is great fun and exciting.
I am now looking forward to seeing some food fairs this summer and watching some one else deliver a food demonstration that I can enjoy.
In this heat things are feeling a bit crazy in the kitchen, so I was wondering how to keep us cool at the end of a hot day in the kitchen. One thing that definitely delivers on flavours are these Gin & Tonic Popsicles so I thought I would share them with you.
Makes 4 large popsicles
150ml Favourite Gin
300ml Tonic water
75g caster sugar
cucumber slices (very thin)
lemon slices (very thin)
In a jug mix together the gin, tonic and sugar
Put a slice of lemon, a piece of cucumber and a mint leave in each mould
Stir until the sugar is dissolved
Pour into the moulds and freeze for at least 4 hours until hard.
Enjoy these coolers and the sunshine, it is summer after all.
